If you want a small hotel, more of a romantic inn really, and it has to be on the BVI, then look no further than the Sandcastle Hotel which is beachfront on White Bay on Jost Van Dyke. To get here you obviously need to fly from your home, and then complete the journey by ferry from Tortola, which is a thirty minute journey. Katitche Point Greathouse is simply an outstanding, very very exclusive small luxury resort on Virgin Gorda. All it consists of is four bedroom suites, and one master bedroom suite and it sits on a rocky outcrop above the spectacular Mahoe Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in the British Virgin Islands.

 

Although the Katitche Point Greathouse is now part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and it has all the facilities of a five star hotel, but in many respects it is much more like living in a good friend’s home than a hotel, and it is of course possible to take all five suites for a family gathering. Privacy is a huge plus at Katitche Point Greathouse, and yet it is so close to some of the absolute best beaches in the BVI.

 

The accommodations are top notch, very sophisticatedly designed, and are reached through an inner courtyard. The four suites are all the same size and identically furnished, and each has a very private verandah with wooden sun lounge chairs, and some of the most stunning views you will get anywhere. Two overlook Savannah Bay and Virgin Gorda’s Valley, whilst the other two have a view of the Dog Islands and Mango Bay. They are quite superbly furnished and the bathrooms have all the toiletries you would expect.

 

The Master Bedroom Suite is more private, slightly higher and a short distance away from the other buildings. It has a bathing area with a deep marble tub, even a koi pond, a shower, and a superb sun deck. It is a real corner of paradise and very difficult...............

Your top romantic honeymoon destination hotel could well be a small romantic British Virgin Island hotel, slightly off the beaten path, but rated number one in Tortola in the BVI. This is the best description for Sugar Mill, and it probably isn’t the place for everyone. That isn’t because of any peculiarities but rather because  Sugar Mill would make an ideal romantic honeymoon destination as a small beachfront boutique hotel, in fact an all suite hotel as it has only a total of 23 rooms. It is a place to relax and unwind which makes it ideal as a honeymoon destination, and it is built around the restored ruins of a three hundred year old sugar mill and rum distillery. In other words it is probably not the best place to go for a vibrant all action family BVI vacation!!

Conde Naste magazine has thought well enough of Sugar Mill to place it in the top ten hotels in the Caribbean two years in a row, and although this was four or five years ago you will easily see why.
